A Blessed & Holy Christmas!
from Saints Philip & James Parish
Sat December 23: Mass for the 4th Sunday of Advent: 4:00 pm
Sun December 24: Mass for 4th Sunday of Advent: 7:30 am & 10:30 am
Christmas Vigil: 5:00pm
Mon December 25: Midnight Mass-music at 11:30 pm
Monday January 1: Noon Mass in the main church (not a holy day of obligation)
Kindly Note: 1. since Christmas falls on a Monday this year, the Christmas Vigil (i.e., Christmas Eve) Mass is on a Sunday. That Mass -see above- fulfills the obligation for Christmas, but not for the Fourth Sunday of Advent. Since Sunday is also a day of obligation, parishioners need to go either to the Saturday evening Mass or one of the two Sunday morning Masses. It takes a little extra effort, but one that will be richly rewarded from above!
2. In regard to the Solemnity of Mary the Mother of God, the January 1st holy day, there is no obligation to attend this season. Unlike Christmas, January 1st is one of the holy days for which the obligation is lifted if it falls on a Saturday or a Monday. It’s still a good way to start off the year, and we will celebrate the Mass of the Divine Motherhood of Mary at noon in the main church.
